Scripture:
1 Samuel 3:1-20; 2 Corinthians 4:1-12
Theme:

Preston Shealy, our Interim Bridge Pastor, has come to the end of his term with us. For the next two Sundays we will have the privilege to hear some other voices from the Presbytery as we await our new pastor, who will begin his service at St. Andrews Presbyterian on June 16th.

This Sunday, filling the pulpit will be Rev. Mary Morrison. Mary, until recently, served as Associate for Congregational Care at Fort Hill Prebyterian in Clemson. In March of this year, Mary took a new call to serve as the Chaplain of Foothills Retirement Community in Easley. We look forward to worshipping with her.

Reflections:

Second Sunday after Pentecost

Introit: A morning hymn which weaves through various images of Christ as Light, reflective of scripture reading from 2 Corinthians (also our Call to Worship): “O Splendor of God’s Glory Bright” (v.2)

Opening Hymn: Calling to mind our Old Testament scripture reading from 1 Samuel 3, the story of God calling to Samuel; “God Is Callinig Through the Whisper” ranges through the various ways in which God calls us.

Transition Hymn: For the month of June, we will sing the first verse of “Praise, I Will Praise You Lord” as our Transition Hymn.

Special Music: Our accompanist, Millie Shiflett, will sing

Communion Hymn: Our communion hymn for 2024 is “When at This Table”.

Sending Hymn: Our sending hymn is “O Day of Rest and Gladness”; the text represents a threefold commemoration of Creation, Ressurection, and Pentecost.

Benediction: We continue to sing the verses of “Go Tell the World!” as our benediction; this week is verse two.
