Fifth Sunday
Summer Camp Sunday, Bible Builds Showcase, and Church Picnic
By Rev. AJ Ochart
Scripture:
Matthew 25:31-46This week is the fifth Sunday of June, and as such we do something a little bit different.
There will be a church picnic after the service that all are welcome to join us for. The church will provide hamburgers and fixings, and we invite you to bring a side or dessert to share.
The ‘sermon’ for this Sunday will be a demonstration of our ‘Bible Builds’ class. On a normal Sunday, the youth (upper Elementary and Middle school) discuss the same scripture that I preach on, and then use the video game Minecraft to build something from the story. This can sound a little bit strange for those who are not familiar with this kind of thing, so we are taking the opportunity to show you exactly what it looks like. The kids will have a discussion of our scripture early in the service, then they will be building in Minecraft in the middle of the service. Near the end of the service, they will show off what they have built. Trust us, it will be cool.
The music this week is inspired by the contemporary worship music of Summer Camps (like Montreat). We are also excited to welcome our new Accompanist, Shannon Bryant, who has experience leading this style of worship.
While some of these songs may not be familiar for some, we are providing music to follow along with. We invite you to sing along or just listen to these reflections on God’s grace and love. Below are YouTube videos of the songs so that you can learn them beforehand.
