Liberation IV: Deep Solidarity

Numbers 27:1-11; Psalm 113; 1 Corinthians 12:14-26; Matthew 25:31-46
This week we conclude the July Sermon Series on Liberation. We have some scriptures that we are very familiar with, and one that I would be surprised if more than a handful were familiar with. We will continue the logic of God’s preferential option for the poor, desire for justice, and expression of good news, with the sense of deep solidarity with those around us.
We will also be using a reflection on the Lord’s Prayer written by my mom, Laure:
Sacred Creator, I honor and revere who you are. I am humbled before you. Your domain encompasses above as well as below, my inner self and my external world. Thank you for providing all that I need today. Please forgive my human failings as I forgive others theirs. Guide me on the path that is right for me, and help me avoid what is not right. I acknowledge you are the architect of all that is. Thank you for lovingly enfolding me into your Being. Amen.

– How do you see the struggle of those around you? What is your reaction?
– What privileges do you have by way of race, gender, class, etc?
– How are you disincentivized to join with others in their struggle for equality and liberation?
