This week we finish our jaunt through Genesis with a story from the Joseph cycle. Joseph is the great-grandson of Abraham, and the favorite of his father Jacob (or Israel, depending on who you ask). At this point, Joseph has been enslaved and sold by his brothers, and brought by Ishmaelite (or Medianite, depending on who you ask) traders to the far-off land of Egypt.
Meanwhile, the promises that God made to Abraham, and the Original Blessing given to all of humanity lingers, one wonders how these may manifest even in the terrible circumstances Joseph finds himself in.

– What is your experience with hardship and tragedy?
– How do you see God at work even in those challenges?
– What do you think of Joseph’s actions, were they the most prudent or logical ones he could have made?
